    STRANGERS IN MY HOUSE

    By KATIE GEIGER

When 5 year old Carol and 6 month old Patty are removed from their home and placed with a foster family, 9 year old Gail struggles to accept Carol’s disabilities. Gail struggles until she accepts that it is she who

needs to change in order to effect change.

What if there were strangers living in your house?

What if they were being rocked by your mom?

What if they were given piggy-back rides by your dad?

What if they were eating at your table and sleeping in your bedrooms?

What if one of them had handicaps?

This story has beautiful language that I hope will bind you to the book .

“She let out a long breath like a slow leak from a worn-out kick ball.”

“My brain was leaky as the bathroom faucet.”

This book, “Strangers in My House” contains 45,895 words and is written for middle grade children.

    SOMETIMES A HERO

    By KATIE GEIGER

This book is currently being submitted to agents for publication.

You can enjoy this sneak preview.

Looking for a hero? Eleven-year-old Gail’s family is filled with them! Everyone from her sister Beth inviting a newly arrived family from Guatemala for dinner, to her five year old cousin Carol fending off a snake in the hen house. Too bad Gail does not recognize them as heroes until her goofy Uncle Kevin demonstrates heroism of heart clutching proportions.

As Gail looks at her family and even herself with fresh eyes, she realizes that seemingly small acts of courage can sometimes lead to heroism… and sometimes is often enough.

While it is a sequel to the book, “Strangers in My House,” it stands on its own merits.

It also is filled with beautiful language,

“Sadness and memories cling to me like fog on a damp day.”

“Bits of broken glass waited like shark’s teeth to bite our bare feet.”

"Sometimes a Hero" is written for middle grades and contains 19,000 words.

    (a bedtime story)

Why does a Little Mouse Squeak?

    By Katie Geiger

Why does a wooly lamb bleat?

    Tell me.

Why does a wooly lamb bleat?

A wooly lamb bleats as she rides up the stair,

High on daddy's shoulder holding on to his hair.

That's why a wooly lamb bleats, my love,

That's why a wooly lamb bleats.

    If I were a Ladybug

    Katie Geiger

    If I were a ladybug,

I would land behind a leaf.

    I would land behind  flower.

I would land behind a stem.

But not behind a praying mantis,

    OH NO!

    Not behind a praying mantis.
